10 things Palm Springs locals don’t want to hear during the summer

If you live in the Coachella Valley year-round, you know the joy of a scorching hot Palm Springs Summer.  As if 120 degree temps are not enough to make you angry, it seems like everyone you run into has to say something that makes it event worse.

Here are ten of those things:

10“But it’s a dry heat”

So is your oven.

9“Hot enough for you?”

Yes. Yes it is.

8“It beats having to live through a snow storm.”

This is technically true, but now all I want to do is roll around in the snow.

7“At least the roads are less crowded than during ‘The Season'”

I wish I could enjoy it more, but I am too focused on the fact my hands are on fire after trying to touch the steering wheel.

6“Why don’t you just move?”

Great idea if not for the job, family, commitments, lack of funds, etc.

5“Why don’t you just move away for the summer then, like the snowbirds?”

Great idea if not for the job, family, commitments, lack of funds, etc.

4“At least you have a pool to cool off in.”

The surface of the pool is 120 and I can’t stay underwater all day.

3“Just be thankful you have air conditioning.”

After paying the electric bill, it might be the only thing I have.

2“At least it’s nice at night.”

It’s 110 degrees…at 10pm!

1“This is nothing. I have lived through hotter days.”

Unless you have lived in Death Valley or on the surface of the sun, no you haven’t.
