1 injured, 1 arrested after stabbing in Palm Springs

A person was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after police say they were stabbed by a man in Palm Springs Tuesday afternoon.

Police received a report of a stabbing that had accrued in the area of N. Indian Canyon Dr. and E. Ramon Rd. about 2:10 pm, according to the Palm Springs Police Department. Prior to officers arriving on the scene, witnesses detained a suspect, who was identified as 31-year-old Juan Garcia, nearby.

Officers took Garcia into custody without further incident.

Deputies located the victim nearby, who was found to have non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to the hospital and is stable condition. The weapon believed to have been used in the crime was located at the scene.

Garcia, who was also on active parole, was subsequently charged with attempted homicide and a parole hold was obtained.
