Woman arrested on suspicion of stealing, assaulting Palm Springs Walmart security

A Cathedral City woman was arrested after police say she tried to steal items from the Palm Springs Walmart, assaulted and threatened security guards, and tried to run over them with her car.

After the alleged robbery, Rachel Sample, 38, swung her purse at the guards and threatened to kill, according to a release from Palm Springs police. She then got into her car and tried to run them over as they tried to detain her before she drove away.

Officials were able to use a license plate number to track down Sample at her home, where she was arrested Monday night.

Sample was arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and making criminal threats.
