Since this week has basically had two Mondays already (thanks middle of the week, 4th of July!), it might seem kind of surprising that the weekend is almost here – yet, here we are, so close.  Assuming we don’t all go crazy from the humidity and heat, you might be looking for something to do in and around the desert.  Well, here are some options.

Dive-In Movie

Wet ‘n’ Wild Palm Springs launches another season of Dive-In movies Friday night with “The Secret Life of Pets.”  The flick is included with a regular admission ticket (you might wanna grab a Groupon) and begins at dusk.

In the Heights

Industry preview night was a huge success! This show is already getting rave reviews – you can see it too… In the Heights opens this Friday. Runs July 7-16.

Before his breakout hit “Hamilton,” Lin-Manuel Miranda, penned this musical which will be staged at the Palm Canyon Theatre over the next two weekends.  Tickets are available for Friday and Saturday night shows (8pm) along with a Sunday matinee (2pm) and run $32 and $36.

Old School Freestyle Fest

Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella plays host to a plethora of old school artists on Saturday night including Stevie B, Sir Mix-a-Lot, Candyman,Taylor Dayne, Ying Yang Twins, Snap!, Sweet Sensation, Debbie Deb, and Pretty Poison.

Tickets are $39 – $59 for the 9pm show.
