Two arrested for stealing purses on El Paseo

Two Desert Hot Springs men were arrested on Monday after police say they stole purses from a Palm Desert patio.

Police were called to El Paseo at 1:20 pm, according to a news release. Officers were told that two men took purses from victims who were seated in a patio area. A security guard for a nearby business observed the theft, chased the suspects and got a description of their vehicle.

The suspect’s vehicle was spotted a short time later near Portola and Magnesia Falls. The car was pulled over and two men, matching the description of the suspects were detained. The stolen pursed were recovered and returned to the victims.

Grant Ewing, 23, and Shyheed Boyd, 18, were arrested for grand theft, and conspiracy. A parole hold was placed on Ewing after it was discovered he was on active parole for burglary.
