Construction crews are hard at work at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden changing out seats, adding a sports bar, and making a big change in hopes of luring big name celebrities to the tournament.

When the BNP Paribas Open begins on March 7th, there will be a new reception area and valet parking just for VIPs.

“If we have a mega-Hollywood star or a sports star – if it’s Michael Jordan or someone like that – there is a special entrance because they need special care in coming into the stadium,” tournament CEO Raymond Moore told The Desert Sun. “You need to take into consideration leaders of entertainment, or sport or industry and they do need special attention and care – especially in today’s world.

The addition makes sense as high-profile people might get a tad annoyed being asked by 300+ people to take a selfie with them on their way to see Djokovic, Federer, Williams, or Sharapova – and a separate entrance will give them a little space and privacy.  Plus, in recent years, more celebrities have ventured out to Indian Wells to take in tennis – though some have not looked all that excited to watch.
