A man was arrested on Thursday after he led police on a high-speed pursuit on the 10 Freeway which, at one point, had the suspect driving eastbound in the westbound lanes and later jumping onto a moving car.

A 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck was stolen on Mesquite Avenue during a robbery that happened sometime between 2 and 5 am, reports the Desert Sun. Officers spotted the truck in Palm Springs shortly before 7:00 am and pursued the vehicle into Palm Desert and Coachella.

The suspect got on and off the freeway, headed eastbound event drove the wrong way into traffic in Indio near Golf Center Parkway and Dillon Road, according to KESQ. The driver also drove along the shoulder of the freeway.

The truck was eventually somehow caught fire in Chiraco Summit, notes the TV station and police located the suspect walking into the desert. He then headed back toward the freeway and jumped onto a moving car – which continued driving with the man on the car.

The suspect was eventually arrested by the California Highway Patrol about 9am.
