Sheriff’s deputy accused of having sex with inmates in Morongo jail

A man formerly employed as a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday night, accused of having sex with a number of inmates at the Morongo jail.

Police launched an investigation into Brian Derryberry, 24, on  July 1 after receiving information that he was “engaging in sexual activity with a female adult” at the facility, according to KESQ.

Authorities found “credible” evidence that  Derryberry had sexual contact with numerous female inmates at the jail, located in Joshua Tree.

Derryberry, who no longer works at the jail, was arrested Friday evening at the courthouse in Joshua Tree.  He was hired the be Sheriff’s Department in 2014.

He was charged with  sexual activity with a confined consenting adult and oral copulation with a confined consenting adult.
