A San Diego restaurant is giving away free tacos whenever the Chargers lose

A San Diego restaurant owner pissed off about the Chargers moving north to a tiny stadium it can’t fill has unleashed a popular promotion: free tacos every time the Bolts lose – which is good news for taco lovers as the Chargers are now 0-2.

Victor Lopez, who runs El Pollo Grill, told 10 News the promotion is a hit with customers with over 400 coming in for a free taco this week after the Chargers lost to Miami. Lopez says that the customers not only grab their free taco, but then spend more on other items as well.

You heard it from the owner himself! Every time the LA chargers lose this season come redeem one free taco. The key word is spanos tacos

Any customer who wants the freebie has to know the secret words: “Spanos Taco” – a reference to Chargers owner Dean Spanos, who moved the team this past offseason.

And Lopez is perfectly fine with giving out freebies all season.

“My main purpose is so the Chargers hopefully lose,” he told CBS Sports. “They lose 16 games that means 16 times that you can come get a free taco — it’s OK with me.”
