A San Diego man will receive a mental health evaluation after he tweeted about buying a gun and bringing it to Coachella.

“Waiting for the shop to open so I can buy that new UZI for coachella 2018,” 24-year-old music producer Nick Braun tweeted from an account that is no longer active, along with a photo of him waiting outside of the Discount Gun Mart in Santee.

A few hours later the gun shop tweeted that Braun had been arrested…

But San Diego officials said that was not the case.

“We investigate these things thoroughly,” Ryan Keim, Public Affairs Director at the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said (via Desert Sun). “This apparently didn’t meet the criteria for a crime.”

Keim stated that in order for it to be a crime, there needs to be a realistic chance that someone will actually be able to carry it out and they believe that that was not the case in this situation. . In this case, the Sheriff’s Department did not believe this to be the case.

“We determined it wasn’t a crime, but a mental health issue,” Keim said.
