Rancho Mirage Bans Young People, Gets Mocked

Ra

Yesterday, the entitled-old-person community of Rancho Mirage enacted a measure to raise the minimum age of vacation renters to 30 – while also banning outdoor music and sitting on rooftops(?).

Hilariously, The Desert Sun reports that The City Council did not understand why everyone was so upset:

“We’re not trying to keep out everyone under 30. Why does everyone keep saying that?” Councilman Charles Townsend asked.

Hmmmm…maybe because you are?

A few people who were in attendance were not happy at all about it the new rules. The Desert Sun also offers up quotes from some residents who attended the council meting:

Karston Erickson, a 22-year-old Rancho Mirage native headed to law school in New York, said… “I appreciate anecdotal evidence, I love a good story, but we would love to see some good hard facts,” he said…

…Vicki Murguia, who owns a property management company which has about 100 Rancho Mirage vacation rentals, said the ban on outdoor music would have a bigger impact on her business than the age limit.

….Still, Rancho Mirage-based attorney Ken Gregory argued the vacation renters were being put in a position where they would have to break state civil rights law to follow the ordinance…”If you have four or five people who can’t rent a room because they can’t find anyone over 30, it’s placing a restriction,” he said.

And the internet did not understand what the fuck the town’s elders were doing either:

As for the average Rancho Mirage resident, they reacted pretty much how they always do:
