Police are looking for a man – who may have been drunk – who they say got in a traffic accident in Cabazon, then fled the scene early Monday morning.

The crash happened near the intersection of Almond Street and Esperanza Avenue a little after 5 am, reports the Press Enterprise.

According to police, a man driving a Mitsubishi Diamante ran a stop sign heading southbound on Almond and hit a Chevrolet truck driven by 27-year-old Seth Bartley, of Cabazon.

The men got out of their vehicles, but when Bartley told the other man that he was going to call police to report the accident, the other man got in his car and drove away.

The Mitsubishi was later found abandoned about a mile from the crash. There was evidence of “open alcoholic beverage containers” in the car, according to KMIR. There were also signs of blood, which would show the driver may have been injured in the crash.

Bartley was not injured.
