A 31-year-old Indio man was arrested after police say he stabbed two women with a screwdriver on Saturday afternoon.
Police were called to a home on Santa Barbara Court at about 12:30 pm, reports KESQ. While giving the women medical aid, the suspect – identified as Erick Maciel of Indio – barricaded himself in the house until about 3 pm.
The two women were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police say the first victim is still in serious condition. The second victim is in stable condition and also still hospitalized.
One of the women is believed to have been a former girlfriend of Maciel, according to KMIR.
Maciel was arrested for attempted murder, aggravated mayhem and domestic violence. He’s being held without bail.
