A group of actors in Idyllwild have changed the name of their troupe to Idyllwild Actors Theatre in a move that will stop any confusion that the public may have had about the organization being terrorists.

Suzanne Avalon had originally named the ensemble after the Egyptian goddess Isis 14 years ago. For many years, this was not an issue – but, how quickly things can change.

Avalon told The Press Enterprise she thought she could wait things out, even as the troupe lost bookings over their name.

She noticed that an Aspen movie house, the historic Isis Theater, steadfastly held onto its name. She wanted to make the same stand.

She hoped hoped other names used for the terror group, ISIL and Islamic State, would become more prevalent.

But, that did not happen.

So now the newly named Idyllwild Actors Theatre will present  “On Golden Pond”- a story about old people living on a lake – on July 29, 30, 31.
