A man died on the Bump and Grind Trail in Palm Desert on Saturday after having what is being described as a medical emergency.

The Riverside County Fire Department responded to reports of an adult male hiker having a medical emergency on the trail at 12:13 p.m., according to the agency’s website. A CalFire rescue helicopter and team was deployed, but the man died shortly after they arrived.
The hiker has been identified as 61-year-old George Basanda of Palm Desert. The cause of death has not been released.
This marks the second hiker in the past 7 days to have died while hiking trails in The Coachella Valley.
