This first part of summer was the hottest ever in Palm Springs

I am sure you already know this – based on the amount of sweat you have lost in the last month – but it has been fucking hot in Palm Springs. How hot? Well, how about the hottest 30 day stretch ever during the first part of summer.

The average temperature from June 18 through Monday was a scorching 98 degrees in Palm Springs – and that’s not the average high, that’s the average temperature! That’s a full two degrees warmer than previous hottest stretch was back in 2006 when the average was 96 degrees.

Of course, a lot of this has to do with the fact that Palm Springs has hit 122 four freakin’ times already this year.

So why so hot?  Meteorologist Brett Albright told the LA Times that an unusually persistent span of heat combined with very few changes in weather patterns (such as rain) have made things pretty toasty.

“A pattern that is stagnant like that and is very persistent is going to give us a lot of heat,” he said.

September 25 can’t get here soon enough.
