If you are planning on having an adult beverage or two while enjoying the Super Bowl, you should plan on taking a Lyft, a cab, public transit (like the free Buzz shuttle all towns in the desert should have), or have a designated driver.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has announced DUI saturation patrols which will take place in Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert on Sunday from 7 pm to 3 am.

Extra officers will be on duty specifically to stop and arrest drivers showing signs of alcohol or drug impairment during and following the game.

“Volunteer to be a designated driver to help your family and friends get home safely,” said OTS Director Rhonda Craft. “Impaired driving only leads to disaster and tragedy. It is never worth the risk. If you do plan to drink, and/or are taking medications or using marijuana, plan now to pass the keys to a sober driver before kickoff.”
