Doug Hassett is running for Congress and he has a sweet music video

Another Republican has thrown their hat into the ring to try to unseat Democrat Congressman Raul Ruiz to represent California’s 36th Congressional seat. Weirdly, unlike two others running for the position, he hasn’t made a career by appearing on the television – though he does have a music video (but more on that in a bit).

Doug Hassett, a La Quinta resident, joined the race earlier this month. According to his campaign’s Facebook page, Hassett says he is, “running for Congress so our 36th District can be represented with maturity, balance and a position of valuing truth.”

He expanded on why he is running in an email to the Uken Report:

“Life often presents a change of seasons that stretches one’s assumed limits. Such is this season for myself … I want our district firstly to be represented by someone that brings balance, maturity and a position of valuing truth over ideology,” Hassett said in an email interview. “Secondly, I want our district to be represented by someone who is representative of the district, and eager to legislate from a position that acknowledges our basic rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness…for all.

“One of my former bosses used to say, ‘grab a glove and get in the game.’ So, in part, this is why I’m running. I’ve been here, I’m ready to do the hard work, my glove is on and I’m headed to the mound,” Hassett said.

In other words, put him in coach.  He’s ready to play (clap, clap, clap), today.

Those are song lyrics, speaking of which.  This is presented with no comment:

There are 195 days until the California Primary election.
