Desert Mirage teacher arrested for sex crimes with minor

A Desert Mirage High School teacher has been arrested on charges of committing lewd acts with a child and sexual assault charges.

Anthony Robert Korwin, 59, has been charged with multiple felony counts, reports the Desert Sun. The charges include lewd act with a child, contact with a minor to commit a sexual offense and meeting a minor for lewd purposes. The victim, according to court documents is a 14-year-old girl.

Korwin, who is listed as the Green Energy and Technology teacher on the Desert Mirage High School website, is scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday.

The Coachella Valley Unified School District told KESQ they had been alerted to the charges agains Korwin by Homeland Security.
