A man in Desert Hot Springs was arrested Sunday afternoon after police officers say he jumped on the roof of a passing vehicle, charged police, and was tased. He was also allegedly carrying meth.

The incident went down at 4:51 p.m. in the area of Palm Drive and Cahuilla Avenue. Police arrived to find citizens removing Rene Flores from the top of a vehicle that he reportedly jumped on while it was moving.

Officers began to give Flores commands when he suddenly turned and “charged towards an officer with his hands up and with closed fists”. At that point,  police used a taser on the suspect and he was arrested.

After being arrested, Flores began to vomit and became unconscious – according to police.  He was treated by Cal-Fire paramedics and immediately transported to Desert Regional Medical Center.  An attending nurse located a black plastic bag containing multiple plastic bags of suspected methamphetamine in his groin area at the hospital.

Flores is currently still at the hospital – but DHS PD says they will release him once released. 1.
