Chad Mayes steps down as Republican Assembly leader

A few weeks after Republicans became outraged that he had the gall to negotiate with Democrats on a climate bill, Assemblyman Chad Mayes is out as Republican leader.

Assemblyman Brian Dahle, a Republican from Bieber – the town, not the douchey singer – will take over for Mayes starting September 15, reports the Press Enterprise.

Mayes faced widespread condemnation from his own party after voting to extend California’s Cap-And-Trade Program to 2030. Immediately following the vote, a conservative website accused Mayes of having an affair.

Our political system is seriously fucked up right now.
