Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate found Saturday at the Larry Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
Deputies found the man, who was unresponsive and “suffering from traumatic injuries,” in his cell about 3:10 pm, reports the Press Enterprise.
Paramedics were called and “performed life saving measures” on the man, but they were no successful.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit is investigating. No arrests have been made and the man’s name has not been released.
