Baltimore mom pulls son out of crowd

“I just lost it,” Toya Graham said after spotting her 16-year-old son in a crowd of teens vandalizing during the Baltimore riots on Monday.

Cameras caught the mother pulling her son away all while slapping him silly:

Graham, a single mother of six, joined “CBS This Morning” Wednesday to to talk about why she did it and what happened after the video.

Graham had told her son not to go the protest the previous night, but he went anyway. The next day, when she recognized her son’s baggy sweatpants and made eye contact, she says she “just lost it”. Graham says that she did not want to lose her son to the streets.

Graham explained that her actions came down to one thing, “At the end of the day, I just wanted to make sure I had gotten my son home.”
