Lunch. It’s seriously one of the most important three or four meals you will have today. If you are looking for a good spot to grab lunch in Indio, you are in luck. The city has plenty of tasty options.

Here are seven of them, listen in no particular order:

1TKB Bakery and Deli

Another day another sandwich ! #nationalsandwichday #tkb #racksonracks #foodienation #food #foodporn

Locals have know for years that, if you want a delicious sandwich, TKB is the go-to spot in the Coachella Valley.  And now, thanks to consistently being named one of the best restaurants in America by Yelp, the rest of the country is finding out about them too.

TKB Bakery and Deli, 44911 Golf Center Pkwy, Indio, (760) 775-8330

2Tacos Gonzalez

Located in a strip mall across from Shield’s Date Garden, this place serves up authentic tacos, burritos, and more – all with a variety of fresh salsas.  I know this post is about lunch, but this place also has some solid breakfast options (chorizo, anyone?) as well.

Tacos Gonzalez, 80120 Highway 111 #1, Indio, (760) 347-6858

3Burger Box

My brothers wouldn't shut up about this place all week! #chickenshakes

Nestled into an area chock full of seedy motels on Indio Boulevard is this yummy burger spot.  This place is full of delicious, greasy goodness with pastrami sandwiches, burritos, fries, date shakes, and, of course, burgers.

4Alkobar Grill

That philly #phillycheesesteak

We included Alkobar in our list of Palm Desert lunch spots and it would be a crime not to include them in this list as well.  They are famous for the cheesesteak – which they offer up in a variety of different options – and they also have a big menu loaded with subs, burritos, Filipino food , and more.

Alkobar Grill, 82590 Highway 111 #104, Indio, (760) 347-6235

5Pho of the Desert

Lots of different pho options plus egg rolls, sandwiches, and Boba.  This spot has plenty of space but is known to get pretty crowded during Coachella Fest, Desert Trip, and the Stagecoach Country Music Festival.

Pho of the Desert, 82128 Highway 111, Indio, (760) 775-1500

6Arriola’s Tortilleria

I have been craving this since yesterday #nachos #tamale #fatkid #cravings

A post shared by Ruby Whitney (@rockandrollruby) on

Tamale boat, anyone?  It’s a fresh tamale covered with nacho cheese, salsa and your choice of meat.  That’s just one of the options on the menu offered up by this popular hole in the wall spot.  Be sure to have some of their tortilla chips because they might just be the best in town.

Arriola’s Tortilleria, 82721 Wilson Ave., Indio, (760) 347-7782

7Harley’s Texas BBQ and Grill

(Yelp)

Neil’s Lounge is a popular dive bar known for its cheap drinks, karaoke (though not with a certain you-know-who), and incredible bathrooms – seriously though, they are very nice.  Now, they are also becoming known for their food since adding Harley’s inside the joint.  It’s definitely not your typical bar food with burgers, brisket, carne asada and loads more.

Harley’s BBQ and Grill, inside Neil’s Lounge, 80956 US Highway 111, Indio, CA 92201, (760) 342-6485
