5 things to do in Greater Palm Springs this weekend

It’s the last weekend before Holiday madness begins and the Greater Palm Springs area has plenty of things going on including, for some reason, two beer festivals on the same damn day.  Perhaps next year, they will plan these things better.  As for this year, well, here are 5 of the best things happening in the Coachella Valley:

Hot Air Balloon Festival – Nov. 17-19

This event has a lot of things going on – tethered rides, a balloon glow dinner, a car show, to name a few – at both The Westin in Rancho Mirage and Downtown Cathedral City.  If you plan on going, just check the site for all the info.

Ja Rule and Ashanti – Nov. 17

Sure they will perform individually, but I think it’s safe for you to assume they will also team up to perform the plethora of tracks they have recorded together including “Mesmerize,” “Down 4 You,” “Happy,” “Wonderful” and the Grammy-nominated, “Always On Time.”  Tickets run $29 – $59.

Palm Springs Props & Hops – Nov. 18

(Props and Hops)

Saturday’s first craft beer fest, features over 25 craft breweries will be on hand at the Palm Springs Air Museum for the 6th annual event – plus you can enjoy grub from food trucks (a rarity in Palm Springs) plus check out some cool classic planes, live music and more from noon to 5 pm.  Tickets are $40.

Brew in LQ – Nov. 18

The second beer fest of the day goes from 4 pm to 9pm in La Quinta.  The fest has a new location, The Civic Center on Calle Tampico, and will cost you  $35 at the door – and gets you four 10 oz tastings.

Miracle on El Paseo

(Bighorn BAM)

Dude.  It’s Christmas.  Already.  No, I am serious.  The first big Holiday event of the season will feature El Paseo lighting up their “tree” atop some super expensive stores along with food, drinks, a 5-story ferris wheel, a 200ft zipline, a roller skating rink (!), carnival games, and live music.  It’s $50 to get in and the event benefits Bighorn BAM – which funds cancer patient support services, breast cancer diagnostic technologies, and educational scholarships.

Have a great weekend!
