Two monkeys said to hell with being kept in their monkey jail habitat on Friday and tried to escape to the highway.

9-year-old Drew and his 5-year-old sister Amara (both Wolf guenons) were on the run for about an hour inside the park before being captured by zoo employees.

At one point, according to zoo officials, the California Highway Patrol had to be contacted as a precaution, as one of the monkeys made its way to a fence line right off state Route 163. (note: never pick up monkey hitchhikers, no matter how adorable they look)

They were taken to a veterinarian for examination and were found to be ok.
